Dorset Area Volunteer Roles Available
We are currently looking for members to take on several roles. All positions on the committee come up for election at the AGM but the ones listed below are currently vacant. If you are interested, would like more information or have any questions please contact the .
- Publicity Officer. This role involves producing interesting advertising for Dorset Area of the Ramblers.
- Footnotes Editor. Footnotes is the newsletter for Dorset Area of the Ramblers and is published three times a year. The editor takes in articles that will interest local ramblers including local information about footpaths and assembles a readable newsletter that is distributed by email and post to members of all the Ramblers groups in Dorset.
- Three individual members. These members do not have a specific role but can bring points of view held by members to meetings and maybe take on a specific role later on.
Dorset Area Annual General Meeting
The 2025 Area AGM, our 51st Annual General Meeting of Dorset Ramblers was held on Saturday the 29th November 2025 at Broadmayne Village Hall, Cowleaze Road, Broadmayne, DT2 8EW. Here is the Area AGM 2025 agenda that was followed.

Area Council Meetings
Since Covid 19, Area meetings have been held electronically using Zoom. The situation may be revisited at some point. (Formerly meetings occurred at least twice a year in March and September at the Colliton Club, Dorchester). For further information please contact the Area Contact using the Contact page.
Area Footpath Committee
Meetings are held via Zoom in the winter, and face-to-face in the summer. The Area Footpath Committee meeting dates for 2026 are: (Zoom) Feb 5th and Nov 19th; and face-to-face May 15th and September 11th. Anyone wishing to attend as an observer should contact Area Footpath Secretary, see the Contact page.
Dorset Footnotes
Normally Dorset Footnotes is published 3 times a year for members of Ramblers Groups within the Dorset area. Electronic versions go to most members but some members receive a printed edition by post.
The autumn 2025 edition of Footnotes is a shorter edition than previously because we currently lack an editor. Please get in touch with the Secretary if you would like to consider this role. Current edition of Footnotes: Footnotes Autumn 2025
